Books that are helping me to create lessons that engage students more

Comments:  I couldn't put An Imaginative Approach To Teaching down!  If you believe that teachers need to teach lessons in ways that enable students to see and feel the benefits of learning immediately (and not just once in high school or college years down the line) . . . if you are interested in getting a framework for planning lessons that engage students without feeling like you are simply trying to entertain students . . . if you believe that asking students to sit for four to six hours a day, five days a week, week after week after week is asking for a huge amount of concentration and you are seeking ways to increase the payoff for students . . . check out An Imaginative Approach To Teaching.  This book, along with The Passionate Teacher, is very practical with details about how to design lessons.

Oddly enough, Head First HTML with CSS & XHTML renewed my passion for brain-based teaching and learning.  I purchased this book to learn how to transform my non-standards-compliant website to a standards-compliant site.  The introduction to this book contains wonderful information about "head-first" or "brain-friendly" learning, including a detailed list of "head-first" learning principles.  The value of this book lies in in the fact that its format and structure exemplify brain-based teaching and learning.  So, don't purchase it if you don't also need to learn about web creation!
