 . . . And then there are nonacademic behaviors that can disrupt learning and teaching.  Behaviors can be both discouraged (or forbidden) or they can be promoted. Will you only be teaching students to limit undesirable behaviors, or will you also be teaching students to develop desirable behaviors that help them succeed in school and in life in general? (These are perhaps behaviors such as Habits of Mind like persistence, striving for accuracy, managing impulsivity, etc.) What is the school’s formal and informal policy on this matter? How comfortable do you feel (on a personal level) addressing this area of behavior? If you do choose to teach success habits, will you use a specific program that promotes positive academic behavior? If so, how will you choose which to use? (Or will the school choose?) Do you have flexibility in this regard?
